Have you seen Smithsonian's Seriously Amazing website? It reminds me a lot of Wonderopolis. When you go to the site you can choose one of the following categories:

When you see a question you are interested in learning about, click on the square and either a description or an informative YouTube video will pop up.

I really love the sharing feature that is attached to each topic. If you use a digital classroom management/organizational system like Edmodo, Blackboard, Google Classroom (coming soon), etc. your students can provide the link to their topic in a threaded discussion. By giving students the freedom to choose a topic on Seriously Amazing to write about, they are given ownership of their learning and an opportunity to teach their peers about an interesting concept.
