Swamp Frogs

Hi Ya'll,
I'm Heidi from "Mrs. Samuelson's Swamp Frogs"!
So excited to hop over to Julie's wonderful blog
to share some thoughts about
"app-smashing"
with you!

I love having my students create using
iPads to share with an authentic audience.

An easy way to do this is through "app-smashing"
a couple of my favorite apps together to get
a smashingly good looking end product!

We set out to create an eBook using
information we gathered after researching the
artist Laurel Burch.

After creating "Fantastic Feline" pictures in Art class, students wrote
nonfictional paragraphs about their research ...
Then took pictures of their artwork using the
iPad cameras.
The next step had students
importing the pictures into the
ChatterPixKids app and recorded their
paragraphs.

Next they uploaded their movies into our

Each student was able to choose the color and font to type in their
story as well as add the movie from the ChatterPixKids projects.

Our eBook was uploaded to iTunes and is available to be
downloaded for my students to share with their families.
I was also able to share the eBooks
as PDFs with my parents.

Thanks for letting me share some of my passion about
using technology to create with my students.

I hope you'll consider joining me to share more
engaging and effective apps
on my next Twitter Chat

I'll be sharing more app smashing ideas and activities
