How to Use Read Along by Google to Improve Reading Fluency

Back in June of 2020, Miguel Guhlin published a post over on the TCEA blog about Google's Read Along Android app. I was so excited about this app to help elementary students with their reading fluency and have been waiting patiently for a web version and iOS support to come out. The wait is over!

Back in August, Google announced that it had launched a web version of the popular Read Along app and let me tell you, it is AWESOME. You can get to it by visiting: https://readalong.google.com/

Currently Read Along works in Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers. Support for iOS and other browsers such as Safari are coming soon.

This is such a valuable resource for both at home and at school. Kids read stories aloud while their reading assistant, Diya, listens and gives both correctional and encouraging feedback to help develop their reading skills. Note: Children's voice data remains private and is not sent to any servers.
