About Me

Welcome! I'm Julie Smith a.k.a. THE Techie Teacher® :) Thanks for stopping by!

I started this blog to share ed tech ideas with teachers all around the world as well as document my journey in the classroom. If you are looking for fun, engaging yet EDUCATIONAL ideas for incorporating technology into your classroom, then you have come to the right place. I love empowering both teachers and students to utilize tech tools to enhance their learning experience and instruction.

I have spent 15 years in the education field as I have had the joy of teaching 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade and went to graduate school to become a Reading Specialist! In 2013 I took a position as an ITRT (Instructional Technology Resource Teacher) and I coached K-5 teachers at four different schools for three years. BEST JOB EVER! I now am an Educational Technology Consultant and work with 826 Michigan in the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor Public Schools.

In 2011 I went through the National Board Certification process and by some stroke of luck I was able to achieve my first year. If any of you out there are trying to certify in Early/Middle Childhood Literacy, give me a shout! I would be more than willing to help you out šŸ˜Š (or at least TRY to...)

I currently live in Saline, Michigan with my husband and two sons. We enjoy traveling around the world, kayaking, working out and going on long walks :)

I would love to connect with you on social media! Come find me on Facebook, Instagram,  Twitter and Pinterest. Also, head over to my TeachersPayTeachers store if you are interested in technology resources for the classroom.
