Digital Activities for Groundhog Day
One of my FAVORITE memories from elementary school was celebrating Groundhog Day. I LOVED learning all about Punxsutawney Phil and making predictions about whether or not he would see his shadow. I created this Groundhog Day Digital Activities in Google Slides™ resource last year that I couldn't wait to try out with students. They LOVED it! Some of the activities involve visual literacy, comprehension, writing, poetry, geometric shapes, pictographs, making predictions and more! Click HERE to check out this resource in my TpT Store.

Easy iPad Project
Have students use the FREE app, My Little Groundhog, to dress Phil and save the image to the camera roll. NOTE: This app does have ads appear at the bottom. Once saved to the camera roll, teach students how to crop the picture. For some reason this app saves the images with the setting icons at the top:
Import the picture into an app like Chatterkid, Animate Anything, Photospeak, etc. and have students record their prediction but talking as if they are Phil! Here is one I created this morning:
If time allows, have your students share their prediction videos on Padlet, Flipgrid, Seesaw, Google Classroom or your LMS!
Online Activities
Primary Games offers a bunch of different Groundhog Day activities like online word searches, basic math fact practice (addition, subtraction and multiplication), puzzles, hangman and more!
Highlights has a Groundhog Day Pipe Puzzle in which students use logical thinking to create a path that will lead Phil to either 6 more weeks of winter or an early spring.
Students can research about Groundhog Day and then take this 10 question online quiz!
