Last year I blogged about how I have always created iPad Promise Posters with classes as a way to establish classroom expectations when using iPads. Students made their promise by adding their thumbprint using the Colorbox Ink Pad (affiliate link) I purchased from Amazon and signing their name above their thumbprint. (Update: the ink pad I linked above is currently unavailable. HERE is something similar that is kid friendly.)
Since that post, I have had many requests to create something similar for Chromebooks and Laptops/Computers. Originally I couldn't decide between calling it a Chromebook Covenant or a Chromebook Contract. I took a poll in my Instastories and in a Facebook post. Most educators liked Contract. Liz Reyes even mentioned using the term Chromebook Commitment. Therefore, I created a printable file for a Chromebook Rules Poster that has all three options.
If you just don't have the time or you work with older kids who you think wouldn't appreciate the thumbprint activity, you could always just opt for them to add their signature.
The Chromebook Poster resource I created has "Chromebooks" with both options!
NEW UPDATE (7/12/22): I have added the 8 rules written in both words and pictures (picture cues) in each of the five Chromebook image colors!
Why the thumbprint?
Great question! Honestly, I think it is more memorable for the kids. They remember "taking the oath" by getting to use the rainbow colored ink pad. Come on...you know that ink pad is pretty awesome š(I handwrite their first name above their thumbprint). I like how it has lots of different colors and the ink wipes off very easily with a wet wipe. Sidenote: If you didn't see my posts from last year, kindergarteners trained me to call them wet wipes. They are NOT baby wipes because "they aren't babies". I upset several kinders last year when I handed them a "baby wipe" to wipe off their hands š¬.
I found my ink pad on Amazon. Here is my affiliate link if you are interested:

I also provide 8 universal rules with different color options for the "Chromebook" printables:
No matter if you want to refer to the poster as the Chromebook Contract, Chromebook Covenant or Chromebook Commitment, I've got ya covered! All three options are included along with different color options for the scroll.

This makes a small display so it can easily be attached to Chromebook carts or charging stations. You could also opt to add it to a section of a bulletin board. Click HERE for this listing.
