Yesterday Nearpod announced that you can now transform your Google Slides presentations into interactive and dynamic lessons that engage every student.

What is Nearpod?
Nearpod is a classroom tool that makes learning engaging and interactive. The teacher launches a lesson in which the students join by typing in a special code. The entire presentation can be controlled by the teacher which updates in real time on the students' devices. There is a whole bank of Nearpod lessons that have already been created or the teacher can choose to create his/her own by importing files (jpgs, PPTs, PDFs), designing slides and adding interactive features like virtual field trips, PHET simulations, polls, quizzes, collaborative boards, open ended questions and more! In the blog post Helpful Ideas for 1:1 Chromebook Classrooms I listed Nearpod as a web application that is great to use on Chromebooks as well as laptops/computers and mobile devices. They even have a free version you can use in a classroom of 40 students or less:
If I had my own classroom that was 1:1 or had access to a class set of devices, I would ask the PTA or write a Donor's Choose grant to fund a Platinum license for my class. This is one of my FAVORITE tools to model for teachers because they immediately fall in love when they see how easy it is to use. The tool sells itself! The real-time data and feedback that is generated during a lesson is priceless. Nearpod keeps getting better too! In the last year they have added Digital Citizenship & Literacy lessons, integrated with Newsela, teamed up with Flocabulary, added learning labs, introduced game based learning with Time to Climb and so much more.
Nearpod Add-On for Google Slides™
Like I mentioned above, a new feature that was released yesterday is the Nearpod add-on for Google Slides™. You can now embed your favorite Nearpod activities directly within your Google Slides presentations. You even have the ability to collaborate with others. If you already have a Nearpod account set up, you do not need to worry if you registered with a gmail address. It will still work with Google Slides!
Check it out in the Nearpod video below:
